World’s richest ‘at heart of climate problem’

기후변화 문제에 대응하기 위해서는 세계의 부자들은 그들의 라이프스타일을 근본적으로 바꿔야 한다고 리포트는 말하고 있습니다. UN에 따르면 상위 1%의 부자들이 하위 50%의 가난한사람들이 생산하는 탄소배출량의 2배를 배출하고 있다고 합니다. "오염 엘리트(polluter elite)"라고 불리는 상위 5%의 부자들의 배출량이 1990년부터 2015년사이의 탄소배출 증가량의 37%에 해당합니다. 저자들은 SUV 운전자와 잦은 항공기 이용자를 막고 부자들이 그들의 집을 잘 단열하도록 설득하기를 원하고 있습니다. 보고서는 영국정부가 영국으로 귀국하는 항공편의 항공 승객 관세를 폐지하기로 한 결정을 번복할것을 권고했습니다.
